A football player is extremely sad after his anger caused him to be banned from participating in games for many years.

The football player, who played in Switzerland at the time of his outburst, has been banned for the next 50 years, after deliberately kicking a ball in the face of a referee before spraying him with water.

28-year-old Ricardo Ferreira, who played for the Portugal Futebol Clube, said that he expected to be punished for his outburst. However, he never thought that his punishment will be so harsh.

“I had expected a one or two year ban at the most, but 50 years! Football is my life,” a disappointed Ferreira said.

Ferreira of Portugal, had not been scheduled to play in the game. He was a substitute player in his team’s match against the SC Worb, when he attacked the referee after the final whistle.

Ferreira was officially banned for life. However, the governing body’s computer required an end-date for the ban so it was set at 50 years.

Ferreira will be free to return to football activity in 2064. By that time, he will be 78 years old.

This is not the first time that Ferreira has been punished for his actions on the field. He previously served a ban of 45 matches for assaulting opposition players.
