A doctor was arrested on charges of possession of child pornography after possessing more than 1 million images of child pornography, police in the United Kingdom said.
Greater Manchester Police said that they arrested 32-year-old Raza Laskar, after admitting to committing a series of sex crimes against children.
Laskar pleaded guilty to charges including sexual activity with a child and making indecent images of a child at the Manchester Crown Court.
According to the police investigation, Laskar abused children in the country and abroad. Detectives raided his home where they found more than 1,600 files containing indecent images of children.
More than 1.2 million images and videos showed Laskar engaging in sexual acts with children in a hotel room. Laskar worked in hospitals across Manchester.
Laskar, who is married, was arrested as part of a nationwide sting called Operation Notarsie, which sought out criminals using encrypted websites for illegal activities.
More than 650 suspected pedophiles including doctors, teachers and former police officers have been arrested as part of the operation, the largest of its kind in over 10 years.
Laskar pleaded guilty to six counts of causing or inciting child pornography, one count of taking indecent photographs,
eight counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, five counts of voyeurism, three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of distributing an indecent photograph of a child, one count of incitement to distribute an indecent photograph of a child, two counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of making indecent photographs of a child and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
