A man attempted to avoid drunk driving charges by eating his DWI test results, police in New York said.
The New York State Police said that 40-year-old Kenneth Desormes of Greenwich, Connecticut, is facing multiple charges after being accused of trying to destroy evidence that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The incident began when Desormes was stopped for speeding on Interstate 95 at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. The officer who pulled him over, spoke with the suspect and determined that he was intoxicated.
Desormes was taken to the Tarrytown police station for processing. Police said that Desormes was found to have a blood alcohol content level of 0.13%.
The New York State limit is 0.08%. When the alcohol test results were printing, Desormes grabbed the paper and tried to swallow it.
Desormes was charged with driving while intoxicated, obstructing governmental administration and criminal tampering.
