A man was arrested on charges of theft after allegedly holding a knife to a little child while stealing cash and jewelry, police in the United Kingdom said.

London Police said that about 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the suspect approached the home of a 31-year-old woman, which is located on Harlington Road, Uxbridge, and knocked on the door.

The suspect was wearing a reflector around his neck and a high-visibility jacket, which made the victim believe that he was a genuine meter reader.

The victim opened the door and accompanied the suspect to the meters. As the victim went into the kitchen, she heard her 15-month-old daughter scream.

She turned around and saw the suspect holding a knife to her daughter.

The suspect said to the victim: “Where is the gold?” The suspect bound the mother’s wrists and ankles, and put her and her daughter in the bathroom.

He was then joined by a female accomplice and they began to search the house, eventually making off with jewelry. The mother and daughter were found by neighbors about 50 minutes later, and police were called.

Police and the London Ambulance Service arrived at the scene, and the mother and daughter were checked by paramedics.

The male suspect was described as white, in his early 30s and approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. He had a goatee beard and a neck tattoo, and spoke with a local London accent.

There was no description of the female accomplice, who was heard but not seen by the victim.
