(Scroll down for video) A library in India, is causing controversy after banning girls from the premises because they attracted too many boys.
Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah of the Maulana Azad Library said that there would be four times as many boys in the library if girls were allowed inside.
“We do not have a problem with discipline but space. Our library is full,” Shah said about not allowing girls into the library.
Students of the Women’s College said that it is unacceptable that they are not allowed into the Maulana Azad Library.
“The Maulana Azad Library is necessary for the overall development of students. It cannot discriminate between boys and girls,” a spokesperson for Women’s College said.
A spokesperson for the library said that if students of Women’s College want more books, the library can send them to the college so there is no need for the girls to come to the library.
The Maulana Azad Library can accommodate up to 1,300 users at once.
