(Scroll down for video) A judge has ordered a man to keep his puppet from talking, according to court documents in South Africa.
Comedian Conrad Koch of Johannesburg, who is also a ventriloquist, said that the judge has placed a gag order on him and his puppet because of their statements against a popular singer.
He denied allegations that the views expressed by him and his puppet amounted to hate speech.
The incident began when singer Steve Hofmeyr, obtained a court order prohibiting Koch from making statements about him in public or in the media.
The statements by Koch, came in response to Hofmeyr’s tweets about the ruling African National Congress. Hofmeyr claims that the African National Congress is victimizing white people in South Africa.
Hofmeyr also allegedly wrote in support of racial segregation.
In response, Koch launched a campaign calling on sponsors to withdraw their support for the singer and asked citizens to boycott anything associated with the singer.
