Joggers were warned to be on the lookout for the man until police finally located the teen.

Now, the 17-year-old suspect was charged with aggravated rape of the 69-year-old man. A judge ordered him to be transferred to the Johnson Mental Health Center in Chattanooga, for a mental health evaluation.

After he is diagnosed, the court will decided whether to charge him as a juvenile or an adult. For now, the case remains in juvenile court.

The attack stunned the police officers and joggers because the path on Mississippi Avenue, where the alleged crime took place, is a popular route for runners.

The victim testified in court that the boy followed him, jumped him, threw him to the ground and raped him.

The victim said that after he was raped, the boy said: “have a sweet day” before walking away.
