McDonald’s customer arrested for falsely claiming she was burned by coffee

(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested after claiming she was burned by McDonald’s coffee.

The woman told insurance investigators that her hand was burned while taking the coffee with an unsecured lid from a worker at the McDonald’s drive through.

Selena Edwards, 38, of San Bernardino, California, handed investigators photos of the burns on her right hand as well as medical bills she incurred from treating the burn wounds She demanded a $10,000 payout.

However, investigators determined that the woman downloaded the burned hand photos from the Internet, and her medical bill was also falsified.

Edwards was arrested and charged with 21 felony counts, including submitting a fraudulent insurance claim, false statements and false evidence associated with an alleged fraudulent claim, according to the California Department of Insurance.
