A man was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit murder after allegedly hiring thugs to kills his son-in-law, police in Nigeria said.

Bauchi State Police said that they have arrested 62-year-old Dotti Jumba of Tumbarja, after being accused of giving several men N40,000 ($230) to kill his son-in-law, 28-year-old Ahmadu Wakili Guji.

The four thugs searched for their target in Gamawa. However, instead of killing Jumba’s son-in-law, the thugs killed the man’s father.

Two other suspects in connection with the murder, 22-year-old Sani Jumba and 20-year-old Bura Manu, both of Kubdia, are still on the run.

“The suspect allegedly contracted Sani Jumba, 22, and Bura Manu, 20, both of Kubdia District, and two others, now at large, and gave them the sum of N40,000 to kill his son in-law, Ahmadu,” the Police Public Relations Officer said in a statement.

All suspects will be brought before a magistrate’s court judge for bail hearings.
