A man was killed while bargaining with an appliance seller about the price of an air conditioner, police in Nigeria said.
The Lagos Police Department said that they arrested Lawrence Ikonne on Friday, after being accused of killing 22-year-old Isa Yaya, while they were negotiating the price for the air conditioner.
According to the police investigation, Yaya insisted on buying the air conditioner at a price below N5,000 ($29), but the seller refused. At some point, the two began fighting, and Ikonne beat Yaya with a wood stick.
Ikonne told investigators that he became mad because the victim told him to bring the air conditioner outside and he refused to help with taking it back inside.
The victim also asked to be paid for helping the suspect carry the air conditioner outside. That is when the fight turned violent.
The suspect will be brought before the Lagos Magistrate’s Court for a bail hearing. He faces a charge of murder.
