A driver was arrested charged and convicted of sexual assault after sexually assaulting a sleeping woman on his bus, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
Now, the bus driver was sentenced to serve one year in jail.
44-year-old Murat Yilmaz of Copenhagen Street, Islington, N1, pleaded guilty to sexual assault at the Wood Green Crown Court.
He will also be placed on the sex offenses register for 10 years.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday, on a route 134 bus traveling between Tottenham Court Road and North Finchley.
The victim, a 24-year-old woman, boarded the bus following a night out, and fell asleep on the top deck. Yilmaz pulled into the Tally Ho bus stand in Barnet, at the end of the route.
He sexually assaulted the victim, rubbing her legs and bottom, while she was still asleep. The victim woke up and felt the suspect touching her.
She ran off the bus, and called her family for help. The incident was reported to the police the following day.
The Roads and Transport Policing Command Sexual Offences Team led the investigation and obtained video footage from the bus, which led to Yilmaz being identified.
He was arrested on charges of sexual assault.
