A woman who was arrested on charges of murder for killing her husband, told police that he ran into her while she was holding a knife, police in Nigeria said.

Lagos State Police said that they arrested 27-year-old Folashade Sodiya, after an argument with her husband turned violent.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, in the family home located on TK Balogun Street.

According to the police investigation, Sodiya killed 39-year-old Jude Igbinedor around 2:00 a.m., during a heated argument over N1,000 ($5).

The incident began when the woman borrowed N1,000 from her neighbor and promised to repay the loan when her husband arrives home.

The husband came home, and he refused to repay the loan.

The couple began arguing, and at some point, the woman grabbed a knife and stabbed her husband in the chest, killing him.

Neighbors who heard the screams, called police. When police arrived, they found the suspect on the floor, holding her child in her hands.

The suspect told the officers that she wanted her husband to repay the loan, but he refused. She never denied killing him, and said that she just wanted to scare him with the knife.

Suddenly, her husband charged at her and ran into the knife. The couple, who was married for seven years, have a 1-year-old child.
