The 67-year-old woman of Japan, was arrested on suspicion of having poisoned her latest husband with cyanide.
Now, the Kyoto Police have arrested the woman and said that six of her former partners have died while they were in a relationship with her.
Chisako Kakehi has been the recipient of a combined 800 million yen ($6.8 million) in the last two decades. She received the money through life insurance policies and other assets, which she inherited from the men after their deaths.
Police began investigating the woman when her fourth husband suddenly became sick at home and died less than two months after the couple married.
The autopsy showed highly toxic cyanide compounds in his blood.
Police learned that in September, Kakehi’s 75-year-old boyfriend suddenly died after the family ate together at a restaurant.
Kakehi also is accused of killing her first husband in 1994, at the age of 54. In 2006, her second husband died of a heart attack at age 69, while the third marriage ended in 2008, with the death of her 75-year-old husband.
A boyfriend, who suffered from some form of cancer, died a year later, and in 2012, her then boyfriend met his fate after collapsing while driving a motorcycle.
Kakehi is maintaining her innocence and claims that she had no part in the deaths of the seven men.
