A female taxi driver was robbed and raped by a heartless teen, prosecutors in New York said.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said that a 19-year-old man of Jackson Heights, has been charged with assaulting, robbing and raping a female livery cab driver on Saturday.

“The allegations in this case chronicle a frightening ordeal of mental, physical and sexual violence. Hopefully, the young woman who was brutally victimized, will rest easier in knowing that her alleged rapist has been brought to justice and will be vigorously prosecuted. However, even after the physical abuse has stopped, the psychological trauma caused by sexual assault can be severe and long lasting,” Brown said.

Luis Barrija, 19, of 94 Street, was charged with first-degree rape, second-degree robbery and second-degree assault. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, the 32-year-old female cab driver had pulled up in front of 26-24 93 Street in Queens sometime between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, when her passenger, Barrija, choked her and demanded her money.

He stated: “I am in a gang that robs and rapes people. I am the leader.” The victim gave Barrija approximately $100 in cash. He then tried to pull her into the backseat of the cab while continuing to threaten her life.

Barrija choked her with one hand, and told her that he had a knife and would kill her if she did not comply with his sexual demands.

The suspect raped the woman before fleeing from the scene.

The victim suffered bruising and redness on her neck, chest and wrists due to the force used by Barrija.
