A middle-aged man was arrested, charged and convicted for raping a little boy many years ago, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
Now, the defendant, who sexually abused his younger friend 35 years ago, has been sentenced to serve three years in prison.
48-year-old Barry Rosamond of Great Tree Farm, St. Martin, Looe, Cornwall, had been found guilty at Croydon Crown Court on Thursday, of attempted buggery (sodomy), indecency with a child and four counts of indecent assault.
The male victim, now in his 40s, came to the police to report a number of indecent assaults and an attempted buggery, which occurred when he was in school.
He told officers that the abuse began when he was around 8 years old and Rosamond was about 15 years old.
He was sexually assaulted on several occasions over two years, while alone with Rosamond at a home on Raymond Road, Beckenham.
The victim eventually began to realize that the things Rosamond were doing to him were not right. He never returned to that home and managed to avoid Rosamond altogether.
Rosamond was arrested and subsequently charged. In addition to the prison sentence, the defendant was ordered to register on the sex offender list for life.
