Police are looking to arrest a man on charges of sexual assault after breaking into tanning salons and smelling women’s shoes, police in Canada said.

Members of the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit are seeking assistance in identifying the man, following the sexual assaults in the Town of Richmond Hill.

On Wednesday, approximately 3:45 p.m., the man entered a tanning salon located at Yonge Street and 16th Avenue, and approached a woman, asking if he could see her shoes as he
was shopping for shoes for a relative.

When she complied, the suspect smelled her shoes and then fled with it. On Thursday, shortly after 11:00 a.m., the man entered another tanning salon in the area of Yonge Street and Canyon Hill.

The suspect approached a woman in the salon and began asking questions about her boots. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s leg, removed her boot and sock and licked her foot without her consent.

The suspect took the victim’s boot and sock and fled the scene. The victim was not physically injured during the incident.
Investigators believe this suspect may be responsible for other similar incidents.

Anyone who has been a victim or has any information on the possible identity of this suspect is asked to contact investigators.
