(Scroll down for video) A female police officer in Tennessee, was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly killing her wife and trying to shoot her wife’s 12-year-old son, police in Memphis said.
Now, the police officer who was charged with second-degree murder for fatally shooting her wife, has pleaded not guilty in court.
According to the police investigation, 34-year-old Jaselyn Grant killed 29-year-old Keara Crowder, during a domestic dispute.
Grant was also charged with attempted murder because she tried to shoot the 12-year-old son from Crowder at their home located in 4500 block of Bassett Hall Drive.
Grant denied the allegations, saying that she was only defending herself against Crowder. Detectives said that evidence and witnesses at the scene do not support the suspect’s claim of self defense.
Police records show that the couple had a history of domestic violence. Grant, who resigned from the Memphis Police Department on Thursday, is currently in jail with bail set at $500,000.
