(Scroll down for video) A man in Georgia, was jailed and raped after being falsely accused of molesting a child.

A Fulton County attorney said that his client spent more than 500 days in jail because his name was similar to that of a man who had failed to register as a sex offender.

The incident began when Randy Williams was convicted of molesting a child.

However, instead of putting Randy Williams in prison, police arrested and jailed Randy Wiggins, who suffers from mental health problems.

Attorney David Paul Scott, Wiggins did not have any identification on him when he was arrested, and police assumed that he was Randy Williams.

Despite pleas from Wiggins and his family, he remained in prison for 525 days. The Wiggins family claims that Randy Wiggins was abused in prison by other inmates who thought he was a child molester.

Wiggins’s true identity was revealed only after he received a mental health evaluation at the Georgia Regional Hospital. Now that Wiggins was released from prison, his family has filed a federal lawsuit against the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
