A man became mad when his best friend made fun of his fake leg, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.

Police in Galashiels said that the man stabbed his friend in the neck after being teased about his artificial leg.

However, a jury found the defendant, John Grierson, not guilty of attempted murder. Grierson denied assaulting Michael Mulholland with the intent to endanger his life, claiming the injury was accidental.

Grierson, 27, of Galashiels, told the court that Mulholland joked about him and tried to pull off his prosthetic leg. Grierson went to the kitchen and pulled out two knives in order to scare Mulholland.

A struggle broke out, and during the fighting, Mulholland was stabbed in the throat. Mulholland, 32, said that he saw the bloody knife in his friend’s hands and realized that he was stabbed in the neck.
