Man beats his girlfriend with gun in church and hides in dryer (video)

(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested on charges of assault after beating his girlfriend with a gun in church, police in Minnesota said.

Jordan Police said that they arrested 32-year-old Johnathan Herring, after being accused of punching his girlfriend in the head with a gun in church.

The incident unfolded in the homeless shelter of the Hope Lutheran Church at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night.

The victim was staying at the church for the night, and when Herring was visiting her, she was hit on the left side of her head with the gun.

Herring fled from the scene in a stolen Volkswagen, and police later caught him hiding in a dryer at a private residence. The victim suffered minor injuries on the left side of the head, and was treated and released from a hospital.

Herring now faces a charge of second-degree assault, domestic assault and making terrorist threats. Herring has a criminal history including domestic violence, police said.
