(Scroll down for video) A man was shot by police after he kidnapped a woman in broad daylight and took her to a stranger’s home.
Police were called to a home in Tennessee, where they were confronted by 51-year-old Robert Edwin Eaves.
Police received a call about 11:30 a.m., from a concerned mother, saying that a man broke into her home while her children were with a teenage babysitter.
Police said that three children were inside the house, including a 16-year-old babysitter when their aunt’s former boyfriend broke into the home with a woman.
One of the children managed to call their mother when Eaves stepped outside.
Police said that Eaves, who was registered as a violent sex offender, kidnapped his 28-year-old neighbor and led her to the Phillips Street home.
When police arrived at the home, Eaves came after them with a knife. Officers shot him dead.
Officers Jacob Varnell, 25, and Jody Musselwhite, 45, who were involved in the incident, were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
