Police are looking to arrest a thief on charges of attempted robbery after trying to rob a store by gesturing with his hands at the cashier, police in Connecticut said.

The New Haven Police Department said that the attempted robbery unfolded on Saturday night.

The employee of Sam’s Mart, which is located at 14 Kimberly Avenue, laughed at the suspect who pointed his fingers at him as if it were a gun.

The cashier told police that the suspect was wearing a full face mask and sunglasses when he entered the store and approached him.

The man passed a note demanding money. The would-be thief then pointed his fingers at him trying to pretend he was holding a gun.

The employee grabbed the man’s finger and said that he would break them if he did not leave his store. The man fled the store on foot without any money.

Police are searching for the man, but so far, no arrests have been made.
