2 young children locked out by babysitters for not finding remote control

Police were called when two young children were found sitting on the street, close to midnight.

Police arrested a married couple in Salisbury, Maryland, on charges of endangerment for allegedly kicking out the two children, who were left in their care.

Leslie Parks, 42, and Leonard Joseph Parks, 62, were arrested after officers found a 9-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl sitting outside a convenience store around 11:15 p.m.

The children said that the couple who was babysitting them, forced them out of the home after they were ordered to find the couple’s TV remote.

The children were given 15 minutes to find the remote, but when they failed to find it they were pushed out of the couple’s home.

Police said that the family is homeless. Their mother, who does not have a cell phone, left the children with the couple while she went to look for a place to spend the night.

The children who were hungry, told police that they had been sitting outside for about two hours. The children were fed and Social Services were contacted.

Leslie Parks was charged with two counts of neglecting a minor and two counts of contributing to the condition of a child.

They were booked into the Wicomico County Detention Center, and were later released after posting $30,000 bond.
