A teen girl was slapped with a summons after police caught her holding an alcohol fueled party at home while her mother was busy taking on the phone, police in Connecticut said.

New Canaan Police said that officers had to shut down the drinking party that the 14-year-old girl hosted in her home.

The incident began when police received a call just before 9:00 p.m. from a neighbor who saw several young men walking down Carter Street, holding alcoholic beverages.

When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a number of teenagers fleeing from the girl’s house and into the woods. Inside the house, they found the 14-year-old girl hosting the party for about 55 teens.

The girl told officers that she had invited just a few friends, but others learned of the party through social networks and came to her house with alcohol.

Officers found eight boxes, filled with 30 cans of beer.

They also found several empty bottles of wine and smelled marijuana.

The mother of the teen told police that she was on the phone in her room and did not realize what her daughter was doing.
