(Scroll down for video) A mentally challenged teen was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly throwing a young child off a balcony at a medical facility, police in South Korea said.
Busan Police said that they have arrested 19-year-old Lee, after being accused of launching 2-year-old Jung from the third-floor balcony of the building.
The incident took place around 4:00 p.m., while Lee was at the center for rehabilitation treatment.
Jung’s mother was also at the center to receive cognitive therapy, and was in a treatment room at the time of the incident.
Jung was being watched by his older brother in the hallway.
When the Lee’s assistant left his side for a moment, Lee found Jung, took him to a nearby balcony and threw him over the fence.
The boy fell about 33 feet and suffered serious head trauma. When paramedics arrived at the scene, Jung was unconscious.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died about five hours later.
Investigators said that they believe Lee threw the boy off the balcony for fun. He was charged with one count of murder.
