(Scroll down for video) Officials of a large city in India, has decided to ban the Uber taxi app after a driver raped a female passenger.
New Delhi Police said that they have arrested 32-year-old Shiv Kumar Yadav, for raping the employee of a finance company on Friday night.
According to the police investigation, Yadav was hired by the woman using the Uber app following a dinner date.
Police said that they were considering taking legal action against Uber, for not performing background checks before accepting drivers.
Yadav was arrested for raping a woman three years ago, but was acquitted of the charges.
Uber said that there is no procedures in the country for background checks, and it was working with the government to address the issue.
The 26-year-old woman told detectives that the driver dropped her off at home after attacking her and warned her not to inform the police.
She managed to record the license plate of the driver and take a picture of his car.
