A TV reporter was arrested on charges of domestic violence after allegedly throwing a flower pot at his wife’s head, police in California said.
Now, prosecutors have filed felony charges against the television reporter, who was involved in two separate domestic altercations, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Lou Holtz said that 51-year-old Carlos Zapata of Sherman Oaks, is facing two counts of injuring a spouse.
According to the police investigation, one assault resulted in great bodily injury.
Zapata, a reporter for MundoFox 22, threw a flower pot at his wife’s head causing serious injuries during an argument, the prosecutor said.
After the defendant was arrested, Luisiana Gonzalez reported another attack, which was also the result of an argument, the prosecutor added.
If convicted as charged, Zapata faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison. The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Van Nuys Division.
