A drug dealer was arrested, charged and convicted of attempted murder after setting a woman on fire because she refused to pay for her purchase, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
Now, the man had been sentenced to 16 years in prison for attempted murder.
28-year-old Mohamed Kosar of Harts Lane, Barking, poured petrol on the woman’s face and body, and then set her alight.
He was sentenced at the Old Bailey, after being convicted of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
According to the police investigation, officers were called to an alleyway in Rosedale Road, Forest Gate, where they found the 23-year-old woman with severe face and body burns.
The woman had just been set alight, but a local resident poured water on the victim, which saved her life.
Police identified Mohamed Kosar as the suspect. Kosar was a drug dealer and the victim was a customer. The attack was a result of a dispute between the two.
The victim received life changing injuries with severe burns to her face, body and arms.
She has since undergone numerous procedures and will require treatment for the rest of her life.
