(Scroll down for video) A woman in New York, suffered injuries to her face and nose after a drone smashed into her face.
The incident unfolded in Brooklyn, New York, when a local T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant launched their mistletoe drone while diners were eating in order to get them to kiss on camera.
However, the event went horribly wrong after the machine crashed into the woman, who works as a photographer and was recording the event.
Georgine Benvenuto stood in shock after the machine flew into her face, cutting the tip of the nose and a section of her lip. The drone also became entangled into her hair.
Benvenuto said that she came to the restaurant in order to record a couple kissing under the remote controlled helicopter.
A spokesperson for the restaurant chain said that all other events in Long Island and Texas, had passed without bloodshed and tried to reassure guests that the risk of injury is low.
T.G.I. Friday’s began using the drones after research revealed that 47 percent of U.S. residents never enjoyed a kiss under the mistletoe.
The drone that can fly at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, hovers about 8 feet above the couples when they kiss.
