A teen was arrested on charges of attempted murder after allegedly trying to kill a taxi driver near an airport, police in Canada said.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police of Saint-Leonard has charged the 19-year-old man with attempted murder, following the attack on the taxi driver that occurred approximately 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
The 58-year-old victim of Edmundston, was injured and was transported to a hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
The suspect was arrested in a wooded area near the Saint-Leonard airport a short time after the incident. The suspect was tracked down with the assistance of a police dog.
Investigators believe that the victim and the suspect were not known to each other, and that the suspect acted alone. Jules Cote appeared at the Edmundston Provincial Court on charges of attempted murder.
He was remanded into custody, and was ordered to undergo a 30-day psychological evaluation.
