(Scroll down for video) A man has received photos of women in bikinis after posing as a Victoria’s Secret representative.
The man of Iowa City, Iowa, is accused of posing as a representative of Victoria’s Secret, in order to get women to send him photos of themselves in underwear.
Police said that Sean Boies, 29, also stole the IDs and passwords from students of the University of Iowa.
He then used that information to create a profile on Qualtrics, a platform for web-based surveys. He sent the surveys to the female students.
In one survey, Boies claimed to be a representative of the lingerie company Victoria’s Secret, and asked women to upload photos of themselves in their bras and panties.
He claimed that the winner would be flown to Miami, Florida, for a photo shoot.
Some women fell for him and sent photos of themselves in their underwear. Police said that Boies admitted that he created the survey specifically for the purposes of getting women to send him these photos.
He also admitted to sending a second survey, promising gift cards of $25 in exchange for information. He got 6,300 survey responses, but he never sent the gift cards to people who completed the survey.
Boies was charged with two counts of identity theft under $1,000 and unauthorized computer access. He was arrested and later released on his own recognizance.
