A popular radio DJ was arrested, charged and convicted of rape after raping numerous young boys, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said.
Now, former BBC DJ Christopher Denning has been sentenced to serve 13 years in prison for sexually abusing children over a period of 40 years.
Denning, one of the founding DJs of Radio 1, was convicted of 40 offenses against 24 children, aged 9 to 16. Judge Alistair McCreath slammed Denning for corrupting so many boys at a critical stage in their development.
The court heard that the 73-year-old DJ used his fame to lure kids to his home. One victim testified that the DJ kept a large stash of pornographic material in his home.
The court also heard that Denning often recorded his assaults on video, and warned one of his victims that if he makes problems, photos of the sex sessions will be thrown all over his neighborhood.
Denning previously served prison sentences in the U.K., Czech Republic and Slovakia for sex crimes with young boys.
