Woman allows her home to burn down and kill four people because the flames were pretty

(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested after seeing her house go up in flames and failing to act.

Police in Japan, have arrested the 36-year-old woman, who sat and watched the flames engulf her home, but did not warn anyone about the spreading fire.

The fire ultimately and unnecessarily claimed the lives of four people including the woman’s mother.

The woman lived on the first floor of the building in the city of Kagoshima, with her mother and two daughters.

She reportedly noticed the flames, but just sat there watching it spread. It was not until her daughters smelled the fire and started screaming that the woman got up and escaped from the home.

The woman and her daughters tried to wake up the 70-year-old grandmother, but after the woman did not respond they fled the building without her.

The other three victims were women, who lived in the building. The youngest victim was only 15 years old.

Police arrested the woman for failing to act. She allegedly confessed that she could have put out the fire, but found it to be pretty.
