(Scroll down for video) The New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) began a new campaign to stop men from spreading their legs while riding on trains, according to posters uploaded to the Internet.
Officials at the MTA, said that they are planning a public education campaign designed to convince men to hold their legs together in order to occupy less space.
One poster reads: “Dude. Stop the spread please.”
MTA officials are also looking into proposals to stop travelers from wearing backpacks, which are a problem for standing passengers on trains and buses full of people.
The MTA wants passengers to place their backpacks on the floor to make space for additional passengers. The campaign comes after several women complained that men sometime take up two or three seats by spreading their legs.
One male passenger however, protested the new rules. “So now I will have to cross my legs like a woman?” The man protested.
