(Scroll down for video) A high school student is dead after being punched in the face by his friend, police in Washington said.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said that the 18-year-old high school student died after being hit in the face at a party to settle an argument over a car accident.
Police arrested 18-year-old Michael Galen, after being accused of administering the fatal blow to his friend’s face. Galen is being held in the Snohomish County Jail, on manslaughter charges.
According to the police investigation, around 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, the victim backed his car into another vehicle outside a house party in the 900 block of SW Lake Roesiger Road.
The victim went into the house, where he met Galen, who was sitting in the car that he hit. Galen called the victim a liar for denying that he backed into his vehicle, and the two began pushing each other.
At some point, the victim and the suspect agreed to resolve their differences, by allowing Galen to hit the victim once in the face.
The two shook hands and smoked a cigarette together. Then the victim let Galen take a swing at his face. The victim was hit once in the left side of the face with a closed fist.
He fell backwards and hit his head on the floor, where he laid unconscious. The suspect and others at the party took the victim into the house and tried to wake him.
After some time, a friend transported the victim, who was identified as Jarom Thomas, to Providence Colby Hospital in Everett, where he later died. The two had known each other for years. Galen was arrested Sunday.
