A maid was arrested, charged and convicted of murder after killing her millionaire boss because he decided to take her out of his will, prosecutors in Norway said.

Now, a court in Oslo, upheld a lower court ruling, sentencing the 62-year-old maid to serve 13 years in prison.

According to the police investigation, 90-year-old Pal Stener Johannessen, was found dead in his apartment.

Investigators immediately suspected the maid after learning that she had been set to inherit his 15 million kroner ($2,457,000) fortune.

However, before his death, Johannessen had been planning to change his will and leave his money to another staff member, a 36-year-old woman.

The court said that the defendant had left the apartment after caring for Johannessen, but had returned later. She locked herself inside his room and smothered him in his bed, probably using a pillow or some other type of fabric.

An autopsy revealed injuries consistent with asphyxia, but police said that they were unable to determine exactly how the victim died.

The defendant had denied killing her boss, but the jury convict her after just two hours of deliberations. The younger maid was awarded her Boss’ inheritance.
