Three men were arrested on charges of committing homosexual acts after being caught going out with boyfriends, police in Gambia said.
Police said that the three homosexual men were arrested after undercover agents patrolled the city in order to locate gay men.
During questioning, the three suspects admitted to being gay.
“Our officers were on the streets looking for suspicious people, and during the course of the investigations, the three men were arrested,” a spokesperson for the police said.
“The three have confessed that they have participated in inhuman acts,” the spokesperson added.
During a press conference about the arrests, officials appealed to the public, especially parents, to report people who they suspect are gay, to the police in order to root out homosexual behavior in the country.
