(Scroll down for video) A designated driver was killed after a drunk driver slammed his vehicle into him, police in Illinois said.
The Chicago Police Department said that 23-year-old Eddie Fuentes, was killed in the Gage Park neighborhood after attending a party.
Fuentes was the designated driver and made sure everyone got home safely.
According to the police investigation, Fuentes was standing next to his car in the 5300 block of South Western Avenue about 3:10 a.m., when he was hit.
Now, 30-year-old Jason Rayford of Roseland, was arrested on charges of reckless homicide and domestic battery in connection with the crash.
Rayford was fighting and beating his wife as she drove a Chevy Impala. Raymond pulled the steering wheel, and as a result, the woman lost control and drove into Fuentes.
Fuentes was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead. He suffered a severe brain injury.
Rayford was booked into the Cook County Jail, and his bail was set at $100,000. He was ordered not to drive a vehicle. Rayford’s wife was arrested on charges of driving under the influence.
