A woman is dead after suffering burns when her Smart car went up in flames, police in the United Kingdom said.
Now, police have named the woman as 44-year-old Georgina Johnson.
Johnson of Meriden, died after her Smart car blew up following a collision with a Mercedes SLK 250 just after 7:00 a.m. on Browns Lane.
The victim’s family have spoken out about their loss: “Gina was a wonderful wife, sister, daughter and friend. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved life and was full of energy. She was gifted and talented. No words can ever express the pain and loss that we feel at this difficult and traumatic time.”
Collision investigators continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward. PC Paul Cope said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw either car in the moments leading up to the crash. This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with Gina’s family and friends at this sad time.”
The driver of the Mercedes, 27-year-old Nicky Gosal of Sudbury Court Road, Sudbury-on-Thames in London, appeared before the Coventry Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
