A police chief is in hot water after being caught offering a young female suspect a pass in exchange for posing nude for photos, police in New Hampshire said.
18-year-old Janelle Westfall of New London, said that she is still shaken by the conduct of former police chief David Seastrand, who offered to drop underage drinking charges against her if she agreed to pose for nude photographs.
The incident began when Westfall was arrested while walking home from a party. Seastrand alleged that Westfall was carrying a 12-ounce can of beer.
He arrested her on charges of underage possession of alcohol and providing false information to police. A few days later, Seastrand called her into his office and offered to drop the charges if she posed nude for him.
Seastrand said that he was going to grab a camera from the police station to take a series of nude photos, and then hold it over her head for two years to be sure that she does not commit another crime.
Westfall refused and later filed a complaint against Seastrand. Seastrand resigned from his position and Westfall received $70,000 in compensation from the city.
