Coromoto of Merida, became popular after being listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having 863 different ice cream flavors.

The country has been affected by a severe shortage of certain staple foods such as milk and toilet paper. The economic slowdown, high inflation and strict currency controls are seen as factors that led to the crisis.

The company announced on its Facebook page that it closed down due to the milk shortage. Recently, some customers complained that the store didn’t carry all the flavors that are advertised.

Manuel da Silva, the owner of Coromoto, decided it was best to close the shop in order not to hurt its reputation.

Silva said that it was difficult to find milk in normal shops and the price on the black market had increased sixfold in recent months, making it unprofitable for Coromoto to offer all its flavors.

The government denied that the country is suffering from a milk shortage.
