New theme park will have life-sized replica of Titanic that will simulate its sinking

By: David Ross

Would you pay to be in a life-sized replica of the Titanic, only to feel as if you are sinking into the ocean?

A new and impressive theme park is set to be built in China, with some never seen before attractions.

One of the attractions will include a life-sized replica of the Titanic that simulates the sinking of the doomed ship.

The replica ship will cost $165 million for the construction and simulation technology. It will allow several hundred people at once to feel what the wreck was like.

Seven Star Energy Investment Group is funding the project. Their chief executive Su Shaojun, said that the ship will appear to be hitting an iceberg after which the ship will begin shaking.

There will be lights and sound effects to make it feel like the ship is actually sinking.

This project has not come without controversy. Some people feel that this project is not sensitive to the 1,517 people, who lost their lives in the disaster.

"I do not think it will downplay this disaster. Asia needed its own Titanic museum," Shaojun said.

"We believe it's worth spreading the spirit of the Titanic," he added.

The theme park will also feature an artificial beach, a “6D” cinema, and replicas of a Venetian church and European castles.

The theme park is expected to open in 2016.
