A man was arrested and will be charged with attempted human trafficking after he allegedly tried to sell his seven children, police in Nigeria said.
Imo State Police said that they arrested Israel Dike last week, when officials of the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development caught him trying to sell his seven children, including a set of triplets.
The 44-year-old man tied up his seven children and placed them in a wheelbarrow.
The children's hands were completely tied to the wheelbarrow as their father walked the streets soliciting buyers.
Dike told passersby that he decided to sell the children because he can no longer afford to raise them.
Dike said he wanted to sell seven of his children so he has enough money to take care of his other kids.
Officials said that Dike is mentally disabled. Charges are still pending.
