A Jewish teacher was brutally beaten by a group of Muslim men in an unprovoked attack, police in France said.

Paris Police said that the Jewish teacher was savagely beaten while the attackers were shouting ‘Death to the Jews” and “dirty Jews.”

As a result of the beating, the victim, identified as K. Richard, suffered from a broken nose. The attackers also drew a swastika on his chest after ripping off his shirt.

The victim told police that the men had cursed him in Arabic and French, and the suspects seemed to have been of North African descent. According to the initial police investigation, the victim was ambushed after leaving a kosher restaurant while wearing a religious skull cap.

Police said that they are looking to arrest the attackers. Last February, two young Jews were attacked, one in Marseille and another at the same school of Toulouse, where a gunman killed a Jewish rabbi and three children in March 2012.

School guards immediately arrested the woman and she was subsequently sent to a psychiatric detention center.

She did not reveal the reason for trying to attack the student.

An Israeli company was chosen to help keep the State of Liberty secure, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

The company will work as a part of a nine-member team of technology vendors in a digital security system project for the Statue of Liberty National Monument in New York Harbor.

Assembled by Total Recall Corporation, a video-centric security technology provider specializing in surveillance solutions, the company put together a "dream team," which has top technology to enhance public safety and operation efficiency at the United States’ well known monument.

BriefCam was selected for its award-winning Video Synopsis technology that summarizes hours of events into a "brief" that takes just minutes to watch including direct video feed or archived footage. The Israeli company, headquartered in Modi’in, Israel, has projects in several cities in North America, China and Taiwan, a company representative told the Tazpit News Agency.

“We are being used by law enforcement and investigative agencies in the U.S., China and of course, Israel,” the spokesperson said. The current surveillance deployment marks the first time an all-digital surveillance system has been installed at the Statue of Liberty monument, which previously had implemented an old analog system that had been unable to reach certain areas of Liberty Island.

Following the heavy damage caused by the deadly Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the Statue of Liberty underwent eight months of renovation and repairs. The monument reopened to the public on Independence Day, June 4, 2013.

“The National Park Service and Statue of Liberty National Monument greatly appreciate the comprehensive security system donated by Total Recall,” Capt. Gregory Norman, Commander of Liberty District, U.S. Park Police said.

“The lack of electricity, flooding and damage caused by Sandy, could not stop the amazing team from making sure that Lady Liberty could welcome visitors – as she always has,” said Jordan Heilweil, president of Total Recall Corporation.

“We assembled a dream team of cutting-edge security technology providers to give her the best protection possible while helping the Park Police, Department of the Interior, and National Park Service, deliver a memorable experience for the millions of families who visit the statue each year,” added Heilweil.

Dror Irani, CEO and President of BriefCam further added that “for over a hundred years, as people arrived at Ellis Island from every part the world, they would see the Statue of Liberty and feel they had reached a safe haven in the U.S. Today, we’re extremely proud to be part of the team bringing 21st century safety and security technology to this long-standing symbol of hope and freedom.”

The Statue of Liberty was a gift of friendship to the United States from the people of France, and was dedicated in October 1886. The robed female figure, holding a torch and tablet, represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom. Approximately four million people visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island each year according to the National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy.

Exercise chain Planet Fitness, was slapped with a lawsuit after it prohibited a woman from wearing a religious head covering, according to a lawsuit filed in New Mexico.

According to the lawsuit, the Albuquerque Planet Fitness refused to let the Muslim woman wear her head covering while exercising.

Tarainia McDaniel, 37, said that she can’t understand why her head covering became a problem because another Planet Fitness location allowed her to work out with her head covering.

Her problems began when an employee told her that the head covering did not meet the company's dress code. McDaniel said she offered to wear the hijab, but it was also rejected.

Planet Fitness said that head coverings violate the dress code of the gym. McDaniel filed under the Human Rights Act and the New Mexico Unfair Practices Act, alleging Planet Fitness illegally denied access to her religion.

“No jeans, work boots, bandanas, skull caps or revealing apparel," a sign at the gym reads.

Two soldiers suffered injuries after Palestinians rioted at the Rachel’s Tomb, which is located at the Jerusalem - Bethlehem border, the Israeli military said in a statement.

Rescue workers said that two officers of the Border Guard, were injured after being stoned at Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem, just a day after a raid by the IDF that killed three Palestinian terrorists in Jenin.

The two soldiers suffered mild to moderate injuries and were transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. Israeli police spokesperson Luba al-Samri said that Palestinians threw explosive devises and Molotov cocktails towards members of the Border Guard at the Aida refugee camp north of Bethlehem, but the soldiers reportedly suffered injuries caused by stones thrown at them from the rooftops.

Eight Palestinians were injured during the riots.

Last January, a teen was hospitalized after a bomb exploded at Rachel’s Tomb, according to police reports in Israel. A 19-year-old man was injured when a homemade bomb exploded at the complex of Rachel’s Tomb near Bethlehem. A large number of police officers responded to the scene, and they launched an investigation.

An initial investigation found that the bomb was thrown from the east side of the complex into the lower parking lot, where the teen was standing. He was injured by shrapnel and received medical treatment. He was transported by Magen David Adom to a local hospital for further treatment.

Police at the scene examined the explosive device and began searching for the suspects. The case followed an incident in which a grenade was thrown at an IDF base near Bethlehem. There were no injuries or damage in that incident.

Former ambassador to Canada slams John Kerry for saying that Palestinians have already recognized Israel as a Jewish state

Allan Baker
By: Aryeh Savir

A former ambassador to Canada, has criticized John Kerry for claiming that the Palestinians have already recognized Israel as a Jewish state, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

Following the U.S. Secretary of State’s assertion at the House Foreign Affairs Committee in Congress last week that it is "a mistake" for Israel to require the Palestinians to acknowledge Israel as the Nation State of the Jewish People as part of the peace negotiations, Allan Baker, head of the International Action Division of the Legal Forum for Israel, dispatched a letter to Secretary Kerry stating that his attempt to claim the Palestinians have already recognized Israel as a Jewish state "is both a distortion of the historic record and an unfortunate misreading of the issue."

Baker, the former Israeli Ambassador to Canada and former legal adviser to Israel's Foreign Ministry, wrote in the letter signed by himself and the Head of the Legal Forum Nachi Eyal: "You justified your dismissing this requirement by claiming and reiterating Palestinian propaganda statements, that the ‘Jewish State issue’ had been sufficiently addressed by UN General Assembly Resolution 181 of 1947, which recommended the establishment of independent Arab and Jewish states in Palestine. You recalled in that respect ‘more than 30–40 mentions of a ‘Jewish state’ in the 1947 General Assembly resolution, and added that the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat had ‘confirmed that he agreed that Israel would be a Jewish state’ in 1988 and in 2004. Your attempt to represent these events before Congress and to the world at large, as definitive proof that the Palestinian leadership has already recognized Israel as the Jewish state, and hence should not be required to acknowledge this in the present negotiating context, is both a distortion of the historic record and an unfortunate misreading of the issue," the letter reads.

"To seriously presume that the 1947 UN General Assembly partition resolution – rejected by the Arab states because it had the gall to refer to a Jewish state, - together with an ambiguous, unwilling and artificial reference by Arafat to “Israel in brackets”, given in an utterly different context which itself was deemed insufficient by the then US Administration, could, in any way or form constitute an acceptable alternative to a clear, unequivocal, acknowledgement by the present Palestinian leadership of its acceptance of Israel as the nation state of the Jewish People, is incomprehensible to say the least, and openly deceptive at the most. It belies any understanding on your part as to the importance and centrality of Israel’s requirement in the present negotiating context."

Baker points out that Israel’s leaders have repeatedly stressed the centrality of this issue since Israel’s April 2003 official response to the Quartet-sponsored "Roadmap."

Baker concludes by questioning Secretary Kerry's abilities to properly serve as a mediator in the negotiations: "Mr. Secretary, one might have expected, in light your position and function as convener and mediator in the present Israeli-Palestinian negotiations, that you would refrain from making more public value judgments as to whether Israel’s position is, or is not “a mistake,” writes Baker.

"While clearly you are entitled to maintain your own opinion, you have no right to express this in such one-sided and prejudicial terms, thereby undermining the very integrity of the negotiating table and selectively prejudging a substantive issue," concluded Baker.

Israeli woman wins ‘Women's World Thai-boxing Championship’

Sarah Avraham
By: Aryeh Savir

(Scroll down for video) For the first time, a young Israeli woman won the Women's World Thai-boxing Championship, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

Sarah Avraham, 20, of Kiryat Arba, won the Women's World Thai-Boxing Championship in Thailand, on Thursday

Officially named Muay Thai, the combat sport is dubbed “the art of eight weapons” because of the use of fists, elbows, knees, shins and feet. Sarah has previously won the Israeli championship, and now, after overcoming her Brazilian opponent, has become the world champion.

Sarah has an outstanding life story. Born in Mumbai, she converted to Judaism in 2008 at the age of 14, together with her family and immigrated to Israel following the terror attack on the Chabad House in November of that year.

Avraham’s father, Dr. Aaron Avraham, was the friend and family physician of Rabbi Gavriel and Rivka Holtzberg, who were murdered when terrorists attacked the Chabad House where they served as emissaries. Sarah and her family felt drawn to the Jewish People, and thus converted and immigrated to Israel.

Sarah learned at the Ulpana, a girl's high school in Kiryat Arba, and although she was challenged with the learning of a new religion, culture and land she decided to become deeply involved in sports. She was sent to train with Fitness trainer Michael Pollack, from the Jewish neighborhood of Hebron.

In 2012, barely a year after she began training professionally, Sarah won the national women’s Thai boxing championship in Israel. Over the past year, Sarah has taken up another challenging hobby – she volunteers with the local fire department.

She is highly praised by her superiors at the firehouse, as they point out that she has participated in tens of firefighting operations and is always present when required, even though she bears a grueling training regime of five days of training weekly.

Sarah’s father currently works at a Bnei Brak hospital and serves as a physician at the Kiryat Arba medical center. Sarah doesn’t see herself giving up boxing, but that doesn’t preclude other plans for her future.

“When I grow up, I might want to be a doctor, like my father, ‘ she said. More recently, she has expressed her desire to become professional with her hobby, officially joining the fire brigade.

Now, the man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Constable Pam Matranga
By: Hydar Tomar

(Scroll down for video) While most men would not have turned down an offer to touch the chest of their female boss, one man was awarded a lot of money for doing so.

James Gist, 55, a former deputy police officer of Texas, claimed that he was sexually harassed by his boss.

Gist sued his boss, Constable Pam Matranga, after she sexually harassed him. The Galveston County jury deliberated for 5 hours before returning a unanimous verdict and awarded the former officer $567,000 in lost wages, damages and attorney's fees.

Matranga, who has been in office for almost 10 years, was accused by Gist of numerous actions and sexually suggestive comments during her time as his boss.

In one case, Gist said that Matranga put her shirt over his head, forcing him onto her breasts. Gist also said that Matranga asked if she could perform oral sex on him, and once joked about performing at a nearby stripclub while simulating a lap dance.

Gist said that he never reciprocated her advances, and he planted a camera in his desk in an attempt to catch Matranga. However, she found the camera, deleted the video and notified the Galveston County District Attorney's Office.

They began an investigation against him on charges of wiretapping. Subsequently, Gist said he was forced to quit. Matranga denied all the allegations.

“I never sexually harassed anyone. I would never hurt anyone intentionally, and I have never tampered with evidence in my nineteen years working for the county,” Matranga said.

Matranga said that Gist filed the lawsuit in revenge after she refused to promote him. She also claimed that Gist was angry after she refused to alter a “legal document as he requested.”

However, the jury believed his allegations and awarded him the $567,000. Gist now works at the Clear Lake Shores Police Department. Matranga lost her re-election for her position at the police department.

(Scroll down for video) A female police officer was arrested after a woman was handcuffed and sexually abused during a party.

However, the officer told police that she and the woman who filed the complaint, were already intimate before this incident.

Melanie Turner, 33, of Florida, was invited to a birthday party in North Port. She knew the host who was throwing the party for her boyfriend.

Turner, who is a police officer but was off duty at the time, invited her male colleague Ricky Urbina, 44, to the birthday party. Urbina was on duty at the time, and he had his handcuffs with him.

At some point during the party, Urbina handcuffed the host. He and Turner took the host to a bedroom upstairs.

The host later told police that she thought it was being done as a joke and that they would soon release her. However, once in the bedroom, the female officer kissed her and sexually battered her.

The woman later called police and reported the incident.
Both were questioned, and they told police that the incident was consensual.

The officers believed that the host was afraid of what her boyfriend would say about the incident if he found out, causing her to file a complaint.

Urbina took a lie detector test over his claims that the incident was consensual and he passed. However, on a later date, when officer told him that they are coming to arrest him, Urbina shot himself dead before police arrived.

Turner turned herself in. Her attorney, Eric Reisinger, said that she and the alleged victim had a prior relationship, and everything that happened that night was consensual.
She has been charged with sexual battery and kidnapping, and is being held on a $200,000 bond.
