(Scroll down for video) An elderly Borough Park woman was rushed to a hospital after being run over by a forklift, police in New York said.
Brooklyn Police said that the woman was struck and injured on Wednesday afternoon, while crossing a street.
The driver was taken away in handcuffs after the incident at 13th Avenue and 60th Street around 1:30 p.m. The forklift driver remained at the scene of the incident.
People at a lumberyard nearby said that the woman was in the middle of the street when she began to scream. The forklift was not believed to be associated with one of the lumber companies on the block where the accident occurred. It but belonged for a company around the corner.
The driver Alexis Cordero, 40, was charged with reckless driving and reckless assault. He was arrested at the scene.
The victim, described as a 73-year-old woman, had both legs crushed and was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
