The 63 foot tractor trailer along with the excavator were stolen on Tuesday night, in a wild and daring theft in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Ari Steinman, the owner of the business said that the equipment is worth about $250,000. He also said that when he arrived on Wednesday morning, he could not believe that his giant pieces of equipment were gone.

Israeli mom’s invention that helps disabled children walk reaches Ireland and international markets

The Firefly Upsee
By: Anav Silverman

(Scroll down for video) Thanks to an invention by a Jerusalem, Israel, mom disabled children will have an easier time walking, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

It all began when the woman developed a special harness to help her child walk on his feet.

Now, she has launched her invention in the international market. Debby Elnatan, whose son Rotem suffers from cerebral palsy and is wheelchair bound, invented a device known as the “Firefly Upsee,” to help him walk.

Elnatan, a music therapist, developed the support harness that enabled Rotem to stand upright, and by attaching the harness to herself, it allowed Rotem to take steps together with his mom. The product even allows physically impaired children like Rotem, to dance.

“When my son was two years old, I was told by a medical professional that ‘he didn’t know what his legs are and has no consciousness of them,’” Elnatan said in a press release.

“That was an incredibly difficult thing for a mother to hear. I started to walk him day after day, which was a very strenuous task for both of us. I said there had to be a better way. Out of my pain and desperation came the idea for the Upsee and I’m delighted to see it come to fruition,” she said.

Elnatan selected the Lecky company of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, to manufacture the product for the global market. Lecky has had 30 years of experience making equipment for children with special needs.

After two years of planning with a team of designers, textile experts, therapists, and engineers at Leckey, Elnatan’s invention was launched. It also underwent successful trials with families in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

“It is wonderful to see this product available to families across the world,” said Elnatan, who was at the official unveiling at the Lecky factory in Lisburn, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

One of the first families in the U.K. to use the Upsee product was the McCrystal family from Draperstown, in Northern Ireland. Maura McCrystal, mother of five-year-old Jack, described what it was like to see her son playing football with his family for the first time.

“Last Sunday, was a significant one for us as a family as it was the first time our son Jack was able to play football in the back garden with his dad, his brothers and our little dog Milly. To see Jack playing like any other 5-year-old boy made me very emotional,” said McCrystal.

The Firefly Upsee, which costs nearly $500 and will be available for purchase in April, enables infants and small children to stand and achieve repetitive walking and training with the support of an adult. The system includes a harness for the child that is attached to the system’s adult belt. Both the adult and child wear specially-engineered sandals, which allow the parent and child to step simultaneously and leave their hands free for play and other tasks.

Firefly’s Clinical Research Manager and occupational therapist, Clare Canale, said that the product could help families across the globe.

“Short-term, the Upsee improves special needs family participation and quality of life, while research suggests it has the potential to help with physical and emotional development in the longer term,” Canale said.

“My hope is that the Upsee will be used all over the world to give children a better childhood,” said Elnatan.

Company sells beer made with ‘smoked goat brains’

Smoked goat brains beer

(Scroll down for video) A U.S. company has announced that it began selling beer that contains “smoked goat brains,” according to the company press release.

The company said the following: Only two things in life are certain: Craft Beer and Zombies. Kind of. As avid enthusiasts of both, Dock Street Brewery combined an obsessive passion for brewing with our admiration for the finest zombie drama to date. Behold our liquid tribute, Dock Street Walker, an American Pale Stout brewed with wheat, oats, flaked barley, organic cranberry, and Smoked Goat Brains!

Dock Street Walker is the brainchild (pun intended) of Head Brewer Justin Low and Brewery Representative Sasha Certo-Ware, both loyal fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead. More often than not, monotonous Monday cleaning rituals (labors of love for brewers everywhere) were spent recapping the previous night’s twists, turns, narrow escapes, or untimely goodbyes. Dock Street wanted to brew a special tribute to the show. “Screw it, let’s use brains!”

Dock Street Walker (7.2% ABV) is an American Pale Stout, brewed with substantial amounts of malted wheat, oats, and flaked barley for a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Fuggle hops provide delicate, earthy notes, while the cranberries create a sinister, bloody hue, and a slight tartness.

The pre-sparge-brain-addition provides this beer with intriguing, subtle smoke notes. In true walker fashion, don’t be surprised if its head doesn’t hang around forever.

While Dock Street has earned local, national, and international praise for many of its traditional styles like Rye IPA, Royal Bohemian Pilsner, and Amber Ale, making waves is familiar ground to Philadelphia’s first microbrewery. The growing portfolio of Reinheitsgebot-taunting brews includes Sexy Beast, Truffled Old Ale, Satellite Espresso Stout, Bubbly Wit, Nino’s Prickly Pears, and Spanglish Fly, a biere de garde brewed with wormwood, yarrow, and ginger.

Gourmet mushrooms and potentially hallucinogenic herbs are one thing, but smoked brains… really? Believe it or not, much of the world considers brain to be a true delicacy. Think Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, but not ridiculous. Many also believe that using every part of an animal not only increases and encourages sustainability, but also honors the animal’s life and death.

Criminal walks free because he is too big for prison uniform and bed

Jude Medcalf

(Scroll down for video) A criminal got a lucky break and was allowed to walk free because of his body size.

Jude Medcalf, 23, who is 7 foot 2 inches tall, has been released after a judge accepted the fact that the prison beds and uniforms were too small for him.

Jude Medcalf, 23, of Newton Abbot, Devon, England, committed a series of crimes after being diagnosed with Klinefelter's, a rare disorder which causes a person to keep growing.

He terrorized an innocent woman by firing a BB gun at her through a window. He was also accused of stealing about $50 from an NHS office.

Medcalf was found with stolen food including beef, which was taken from the Sloop pub in Newton Abbot, while staff was distracted.

Medcalf admitted to the possession of an imitation firearm and a sharp metal object, criminal damage and theft. He was remanded into custody for sentencing.

He was released from prison after the court was told that he had struggled throughout his 75 day stay in prison because there were no beds or uniforms to accommodate him.

His attorney, William Parkhill, told the judge that people picked on him in jail because of his size, but he was immature and was unable to deal with it.

“He has been targeted twice in prison and had a black eye the last time he came to court,” Parkhill told the court.

Rather than prison time, Medcalf received a six month curfew and community service for 12 months.

A child rapist who was arrested and charged, came up with a classic childish excuse.

The suspect told police that the 10-year-old victim had been sleeping around with other men as well, police in Nigeria said.

Enugu State Police said that 38-year-old bus driver Joseph Akpu, has been charged with one count of child rape. According to the police investigation, the mother hired the suspect to drive her daughter to and from school.

The suspect was being paid N3,000 ($18) per month for his services. One day, instead of taking her to school, Akpu took the girl to his house and raped her for several hours before driving her back home.

Akpu threatened to kill the girl if she told her mother or anyone else about the rape. The following day, the defendant drove the girl to his house again and began to have sex with her. Luckily, a neighbor realized what was happening and he called police, who arrested the Akpu.

Akpu’s attorney said that his client did not force the victim into bed, adding that the sex was consensual. The attorney also said that the victim “has been doing it with other men anyway.”

(Scroll down for video) One McDonald’s customer had a meal to remember when his friends pressured him into tattooing his receipt onto his body.

Stian Ytterdahl, an 18-year-old man of Lorenskog, Norway, had his McDonald’s receipt tattooed on his right arm as punishment, administered by his friends, for being “too active with the ladies.”

Ytterdahl’s friends gave him the alternate option of getting Barbie tattooed on his behind. However, he chose to display his fast food purchase on his arm.

The owner of Sabelink Tattoo said that it was the “strangest tattoo” he had ever done. “Now I'm a living billboard,” Ytterdahl said. “But I think all this is just fun. Maybe it won't be as fun when I'm 50 or 60 years old, but it's my choice,” he added.

The tattoo covers a majority of Ytterdahl’s arm and features a purchase that included a soda, cheeseburger, and a “Nonstop Flurry.”

Sabelink Tattoo has offered to give Ytterdahl a complimentary tattoo of the receipt for his new tattoo on his left arm and he has agreed.

A restaurant is becoming more popular since their new CEO told customers to stop tipping his employees.

Noodles & Company, a U.S. fast-food restaurant, has been growing rapidly since Kevin Reddy became its chairman in 2006.

Reddy began paying his employees a higher wage, which is above the minimum wage so that they do not depend on tips.

He believes that waiters and waitresses have to give good service to customers, and that they should not depend on the tip a person can afford to give.

Noodles & Company sells dishes such as noodles, sandwiches, salads and soups inspired by cuisines from around the globe.

Since taking office, Reddy has increased the number of Noodles from 284 stores to 380, which are located in 29 states including Washington, D.C.

Reddy believes that the policy of no tipping is one of the reasons for their success.

(Scroll down for video) Florida police officers attempted to stop a man for speeding.

However, instead of stopping, the man led police on a high-speed chase.

Turns out that Kareem Moore, 24, ran from police because he had just robbed a house and he was driving a stolen Audi.

When he was unable to get away from police, Moore abandoned the Audi SUV at the side of the busy Interstate 95.

He then took off running across several lanes of the busy highway and jumped over a fence. Moore then stopped a car and asked him for a ride. Unbeknownst to Moore the man was a Broward Sheriff's deputy from Deerfield Beach.

Capt. Robert Schnakenberg explained that although the officer was in an unmarked car, he was wearing full uniform. The officer was also involved in the police chase.

Moore asked for a ride and the officer accommodated him, but his destination was to the local police department where Moore was arrested.

Moore had stolen a lot of valuables including expensive watches, a Louis Vuitton bag and two handguns with ammunition. A number of items were recovered including the weapons.

(Scroll down for video) A police officer is accused of having sexual explicit conversations with teen boys after pretending to be a girl.

Michael Gerard Stavris, 30, of Palm Coast, Florida, was accused of stealing a girl’s identity so he can get boys to send him nude photos.

The Bunnell Police Department has arrested the officer after his former girlfriend’s 16-year-old daughter told police that Stavris opened a Facebook account in her name and was using her identity to communicate with teenage boys.

The officer was also employed as a school security guard in Jacksonville, and apparently has a thing for teenage boys.

On his fake Facebook page, Stavris allegedly had at least
30 students from various schools in the area, most of them were under 18 years old.

Stavris’ future mother-in-law, Sherry Blevins, was quick to point out that these allegations are nothing but a way for his former girlfriend to get back at him and to ruin his life after he would not take her back.

Stavris was charged with two counts of computer pornography and one count of criminal use of personal identification information.

He was released from the Flagler County Jail after posting $125,000 bond.

Man accused of killing his brother-in-law and sister after having incestuous relationship with her

Ryan Wyngarden
By: Anika Rao

A man is facing life in prison after killing his sister and her husband.

Prosecutors believe that the man killed his brother-in-law and sister because he was jealous of their relationship.

52-year-old Ryan Wyngarden of Michigan, is accused of murdering his sister and her husband in a crime of incestuous passion.

Prosecutors argued that it was the sexual history Wyngarden had with his sister, Gail Brink, that led him to fatally shoot her and her husband, Rick, on November 21, 1987, just 18 months after the couple got married.

The Brinks’ murders was a cold case for many years until Wyngarden’s wife Pam came forward and told authorities that her husband confessed to killing the couple as well as revealing that he had an incestuous relationship with his sister.

During the trial, Pam Wyngarden told the court that her husband admitted to killing the couple because he did not want Rick Brink to find out about the intimate relationship between him and his sister, and that he was jealous.

Wyngarden however, tried to convince the jury that those sexual encounters with his sister would not have provided a motive for killing her.

In his testimony, Wyngarden admitted to having three sexual experiences with Gail, but denied the two had sex.

The first instance occurred when Wyngarden was twelve and his sister was nine years old. He said that they were naked, and they were just playing and comparing body parts.

He admitted that they had a couple of more sexual encounter up until his sister was 15 years old. Wyngarden faces two counts of first-degree murder and could serve life in prison if convicted.

A teenager seems to be having a very difficult life and things are not going to get better for him anytime soon.

Thomas Proudfoot, 17, of Scotland, was sentenced to 7 years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

Proudfoot was 15 years old when he was hit by a train at the Westerton Station in Bearsden, near Glasgow. Emergency workers were unsure if he was going to survive.

Thankfully, he recovered, but not before doctors were forced to remove all his affected limbs. Proudfoot became a quadruple amputee and was fitted with prosthetic arms and legs.

He seems to have become very bitter about his situation as he had gotten into some trouble since then. In one incident, Proudfoot was convicted of exposing himself and making sexual demands to a 17-year-old girl.

Proudfoot allegedly threw the teen to the ground and kicked her on the head and body before dragging her to a quiet place near his house in Clydebank, where he sexually assaulted her.

In another incident, he broke a man’s jaw with his claw-like metal prosthetic arm. He was also accused of spitting at a police officer and trying to hit another officer.
