Despite record breaking drought Israel announces it has enough water for everyone

The Israel Water Authority has announced that despite a record breaking drought there is enough water for everyone, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

This winter, Israel has experienced the worst drought recorded in modern history.

Since the mega snowstorm in the beginning of December, there has been no significant rainfall. Israel's Water Authority has noted with some degree of alarm that the drought is the harshest around its main water bodies, in the northern region and in Samaria.

Israel’s Meteorological Service (IMS) stated that this winter has been the driest since records began more than 70 years ago. Precipitation totals were less than 20 percent of the average in many parts of the country.

“Such extreme dryness has never been recorded,” a spokesperson of the Water Authority said. “We should also remember that last year's winter ended early, with less rainfall than usual,” the spokesperson added.

The full extent of the drought will only be determined at the end of the season. These severe conditions are felt not only in Israel, but throughout the entire Middle East.

Australia, China and some areas in the U.S., are experiencing droughts as well. California authorities have recently announced a cut-back in water supply for agriculture.

Luckily, Israel has made preparations for such a scenario and there will be no need to cut the water supply. “Thanks to outstanding measures and vast investments made by the State of Israel in its water economy over the past years, Israel is no longer dependent solely on rainfall. Integrative administration of the water resources together with the construction of desalination plants, and purification and reclamation of treated waste water, enables us today to fully provide all private and industrial segments with the water they need, and they are no longer required to take drastic measure such as the destruction of crops, like in the past,” the Water Authority said.

Israel is the number one leader in the world in the field of purification and reclamation of treated waste water, and its water technologies are highly sought around the world.

“The State of Israel, together with the Water Authority, has made preparations for the developing circumstances we are now experiencing - prolonged and extreme droughts. Thanks to these prior arrangements Israel will not experience a water crisis and will provide water to all its consumers,” the Water Authority concluded.

The owner of a Manhattan restaurant was ordered to pay his chef more than $1 million after saying that gays are going to hell, according to court proceedings in New York.

According to a lawsuit filed by the chef, the owner of the Mexican restaurant warned his staff during weekly prayers that gay people are going to hell.

Mirella Salemi had sued Gloria’s Tribeca Inc. and owner Edward Globokar, for violations of the Human Rights Act.
The owner operates a chain of Mexican restaurants in New York named Mary Ann’s.

Salemi complained that Globokar held weekly prayer meetings for employees and everyone attended because they feared they would lose their jobs if they did not attend.

At these meetings, Globokar would repeatedly call homosexuality a sin, and say that gays are going to go to hell. Globokar also told the lesbian Salemi to dress more feminine, marry a man and have children.

Globokar argued that he was exercising his First Amendment rights, including freedom of religion, but the court rejected that notion.

The court awarded Salemi $400,000 in compensatory damages and $1.2 million in punitive damages.

A man is angry and feels violated by his daughter after she ripped his testicles.

Mary Mlilwana, 27, of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, was arrested after she got into a fight with her 68-year-old father.

During the fight, she pulled his testicles so hard that he needed stitches to repair it. Mlilwana was spared jail by Judge Willard Maphios Moyo, who called the woman’s actions “disgusting.”

The judge ordered a conditional sentence for five years, but not before giving her a stern lecture. “This is disgusting and very unusual for a woman your age to do that to her own father,” the judge said.

The woman said that she grabbed her father’s privates in self defense, after he hit her, but she later apologized for her actions.

The judge asked the father to forgive his daughter, who apologized in court. During the trial, the father testified that his daughter grabbed his testicles, which caused him to faint.

“I'm very angry at her for doing such a thing to me. I received many stitches on my privates and it's still very painful,” the father said.

The man also told the court that he felt violated by his daughter. “It's painful to think that my daughter touched my privates and tore it like a lioness,” the father added.

The father went on to tell the court that he is a probation officer by profession, and he had never encountered such a heinous act.

“I was afraid that my manhood would be destroyed by my own daughter,” he told the court.

The 26-year-old woman of Denver, managed to get a quick response from police and firefighters.

Erica Lyle called 911 and told the operator that she accidentally locked her car door with her child inside and she could not find the keys.

According to a police report, Lyle told police that she was “going crazy because she could not find the keys to her car,” and wanted help to unlock the car.

Firefighters unlocked the car. While officers were still at the scene, a child came out of the house with car keys in his hand.

Lyle was cited and ordered to show up in court on charges of misuse/unlawful use of emergency services.

A man was arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly killed his wife because she complained too much, police in Nigeria said.

Gusau Police said that they arrested 60-year-old Malam Umaru, after being accused of slapping his wife Inno, until she died.

The beating occurred after Inno protested the fact that her husband likes to have sex with his other wife. She also complained that he treats the children of his other wife better than her children.

On the day of the murder, Umaru decided that he had enough of his complaining wife and decided to kill her. Last October, a man was arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly killed his wife because she closed the ketchup bottle too tight for him to open it, according to police reports in Oregon.

Deschutes County Police said that an 86-year-old local man will go on trial for murdering his wife. The man complained that his stepdaughter did not wish him a happy birthday and that his wife closed the ketchup bottle too tight.

Deschutes County District Attorney Mary Anderson told the jury about Lawrence Loeffler’s complaints during opening statements on Wednesday, in his murder trial. Anderson said Loeffler complained about his family during interrogation by officers on the death of 83-year-old Betty Loeffler. Prosecutors said the murder was premeditated.

Anderson said Lawrence Loeffler took the phone off the hook, pulled out a .25 caliber pistol and shot his wife in the middle of the night. She was shot once in the neck and then again in the head in what investigators described as a "kill shot" to make sure she was dead, Anderson told jurors.

While Lawrence Loeffler admitted to killing his wife, defense attorney Jacques DeKalb said his client was not guilty of murder because he was suffering from delusions. Lawrence Loeffler breathes with the help of an oxygen concentrator and began to cry as he sat at the defense table listening to the police calls made after the murder.

(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly murdered a Chinese student while her boyfriend was chatting with her on a computer webcam, prosecutors in Canada said.

Xian Chao Meng of China, told a court that he believes he witnessed the murder of his former longtime girlfriend, Qian “Necole” Liu.

It all happened while he was on his laptop in Beijing, and she was on her laptop in Toronto. They had been on Skype for hours because Liu, a student at York University, wanted online company while doing her homework.

They had separated three months earlier, but remained friends. Meng said that he saw 23-year-old Liu, wearing a headset, sitting at the computer in her apartment when someone knocked on the door. The door was also visible on the webcam.

Liu opened the door, and Meng saw a man standing in the doorway. After the door opened, the two had a conversation near the door, Meng told the court. Suddenly, the man began attacking Liu.

Meng said that he heard Liu screaming “no” numerous times. After hearing several bangs Liu became quiet. Meng said that later he heard the man breathing heavily.

Police arrested Brian Dickson, who had been a resident of the building and a student at York. He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. Dickson, 32, tried to plead guilty to a lesser offense of manslaughter, but the court has rejected that.

Prosecutors told the court that DNA evidence collected at the scene matched Dickson, and a Medical Examiner ruled that Liu died of asphyxiation.

Masseuse caught hiding client’s $35,000 Rolex watch in her privates

(Scroll down for video) A Nevada woman swiped a massage client’s $35,000 Rolex watch and hid it in her private parts, police said.

Christina Lafave, a 25-year-old of Las Vegas, has been accused of taking the watch, owned by Kenneth Herold, while giving him a massage in his hotel room in the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel.

Herold, 66, told police that Lafave offered him a $300 “private massage” when they met at the hotel bar. Lafave insisted that he remove the watch so that she would have easier access to his arm. Herold told police that the watch had disappeared five to seven minutes later.

When Lafave denied stealing the watch, Herold called hotel security. When questioned, Lafave became hostile and tried to exit the room. She was then placed in handcuffs and taken to the Wynn security office.

When police arrived, Lafave was informed of her rights and she waived her right to speak to an attorney before questioning. Lafave told detectives that Herold became upset when she refused to perform oral sex without a condom.

Herold’s room was thoroughly searched. However, the watch was not located. Lafave eventually admitted to hiding it. Officials received a search warrant and Lafave was taken to a hospital where an x-ray proved that the Rolex was inside her privates.

Medical professionals removed the watch and Lafave was charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property. She was released on $40,000 bail. She faces up to 20 years in jail, if convicted.

Chris Rasmussen, Lafave’s defense lawyer, claimed that the lengths police went to in order to retrieve the watch were illegal. Rasmussen stated that all acts between Lafave and Herold were consensual and that the Rolex was a gift that Herold tried to later take back.
