|Phone fully charged in 30 seconds|
(Scroll down for video) An Israeli company has unveiled a new cellphone super charger that fully charges phones in just 30 seconds.
StoreDot showed the device, made of biological structures, at the Think Next Conference.
A Samsung smartphone went from a dead battery to full power in 26 seconds at the event. The battery is currently only a prototype and the company expects it to take three years to become a commercially viable product.
A battery pack the size of a pack of cigarettes was attached to the smartphone. “We believe that we can integrate a battery for a smartphone in a year and have a device commercially ready in three years,” Doctor Dorn Myersdorf said.
Myersdorf said that the batteries are usually 30 to 40 percent more expensive to manufacture compared with traditional batteries, and the final product will be twice as expensive than the batteries currently on the market.
