(Scroll down for video) A horse nearly drowned after slipping and falling into creek, rescue workers in Israel said.
Kiryat Bialik firefighters said that were called in to help rescue the horse that slipped and fell into the muddy waters of the Naaman Creek.
The white horse that was covered in brown mud was in danger of drowning, but the firefighters managed to rescue the horse. After receiving the call about the horse that was having trouble keeping its head above water, firefighters placed straps around the horse's body and tied it to a tractor.
The horse was then pulled from the water. After a few minutes of rest, the horse was able to stand up. It was taken by its owner to a nearby animal clinic for further medical treatment.
In March, 2 people were arrested and charged with animal cruelty after they were seen on video dragging a donkey by tying it to a horse and carriage, Israel Police said. Police launched an investigation into the incident after receiving a complaint by the “Let the Animals Live” animal rights group.
Police said that the suspects claimed that they were only trying to help the donkey. The video of the abuse was uploaded to the Internet last week.
It showed two men driving a horse-drawn carriage and a donkey tied behind it. The donkey is seen desperately trying to stop the carriage.
The video was recorded in Hod Hasharon. The Let the Animals Live organization published the video on their Facebook page, and asked viewers to help in identifying the suspects.
After a few days, police managed to arrest the two suspects.
