Developer gets $1 million to create app that can only say ‘Yo’

Yo app
By: Hydar Tomar

(Scroll down for video) A developer got a shocking $1 million investment to create a mobile application that can do only one thing, say “Yo.”

“This is the simplest and most efficient communication tool in the world. Yo is a single-tap zero character communication tool. Yo is everything and anything, it all depends on you, the recipient and the time of the Yo,” the company states on its website.

“Want to say ‘good morning’? Just Yo. Want to say ‘baby I'm thinking about you’? Yo. ‘I've finished my meeting, come to my office,’ Yo. ‘Are you up?’ Yo. The possibilities are endless. We don't want your email or Facebook identifications, there is no search, no nothing. Just Yo. Open the app, tap Yo, that's it. It's that simple. Yo,” the company concludes.

Or Arbel said that he got $1 million from investors. He moved to San Francisco, California, last week, to pursue Yo full-time.

Arbel sees real potential for the application to change the way of communication beyond the social sphere. Imagine ordering at Starbucks and simply waiting for a Yo to come through your phone when you're ready instead of listening for a barista to scream your name.

You can receive a Yo from the airline at the airport when it's time to board your flight as well.

A boy was kicked out of school after he was caught trading his medications for snacks, school officials in Illinois said.

Now, the mother of the child is suing the school for sending her boy home.

The incident began when the 15-year-old boy traded his attention deficit disorder medication for a bag of Cheez-It and cash.

According to the lawsuit filed with an Illinois court, the Mathematics and Science Academy illegally expelled the boy because of the behavior he displayed during the transaction that was probably a manifestation of his disability.

The school nurse was very aware of the child’s condition because that individual was responsible for dispensing the medication to the child. The child admitted that he received several bags of chips and $3.00 as payment for his attention deficit disorder medication.

The boy claimed that the drug helped his partner study and do better in school. The lawsuit seeks a restraining order and injunction, preventing the school from expelling the child because of his disability.

(Scroll down for video) A mayor of a city in California, resigned after being seen on video throwing dog poop onto his opponents property.

Dennis Kneier, the mayor of a wealthy suburb of Los Angeles, came under fire after he was recorded on video throwing the dog poop into the neighbor's yard.

The San Marino mayor resigned on Tuesday, after angry residents protested over what became known as “Poopgate.”

“I have apologized to my neighbor of my action, and I will pay a fine for littering,” Kneier wrote in his resignation letter.

“These events are still embarrassing for me and for the city. Due to this, I have decided to resign as mayor,” he concluded.

As we reported earlier this month, a mayor was seen throwing dog poop into his neighbor's property, a video uploaded to the Internet showed. After the video was made public, the mayor of a wealthy Los Angeles, California, suburb, apologized.

Dennis Kneier of San Marino, said that he should have disposed the poop in a proper manner instead of throwing it in the front yard. Kneier said that he and his wife were walking home from a park on Saturday night, when they found the bag of dog poop on the floor.

He picked it up it threw it into the yard. Homeowner Philip Lao, said he recognized Kneier on his home surveillance video and called police.

Officers photographed the bag. Lao said that he believed that the incident was a revenge for his past opposition to some of the mayor’s proposals, including plans for a dog park.

Kneier denied the allegations. Police said that they launched an investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made.

The mother came into the operating room to have her ovaries removed, but to her shock, doctors discovered a 9 pound baby growing inside her.

25-year-old Rebecca Oldham of New Zealand, was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain and had to undergo surgery to remove her ovaries as it was deemed the cause of her pain.

When surgeons opened the woman’s body during surgery, they found the full term baby inside her.

“I was facing not able to have children because they thought there were problems with the ovaries, and suddenly we had a son,” Oldham said.

Oldham had undergone many tests including pregnancy tests before doctors established the cause of her pain.

She was admitted to Middlemore Hospital in Manukau City, for surgery. The surgeons were surprised to discover the healthy baby inside her. They awoke the new mother briefly to let her know that the operation was being changed to an emergency cesarean section.

Oldham, and her partner James Tipene, are already parents. Now, they and 20-month-old Hayley, are very happy with the new addition to the family.

New and official name given for students who want to stay genderless or transgender

School officials in British Columbia, have announced that new terms will be used for students who see themselves as genderless or transgender.

Students and teachers in Vancouver, can now use gender-neutral pronouns “xe,” “xem,” and “xyr,” to be politically correct when referring to those students.

The move was approved and is designed to accommodate students for whom “he” and “she” do not fit or is deemed inappropriate.

The best term we had until now was “them,” which is obviously very uncomfortable.

The new terminology for gender neutral students is “xe,” “xem,” and “xyr,” which rhymes with the genderless plural “they,” “them,” and “their,” and are pronounced by using the letter z “zey,” “zem,” and “zare.”

The new words are intended to apply primarily to a small minority of students, namely transgender students. On the other hand however, it could also be used by anyone who believes that gender pronouns are inappropriate.

"We are standing up for kids, and making our schools safer and more inclusive,” school board member Mike Lombardi said. In addition to this change, students can now choose to use the bathroom facilities of their choice, including the unisex option, which is mandatory at schools.

(Scroll down for video) A baby was found to be very intoxicated and her mother is accused of giving her the alcohol.

The 13-month-old girl was taken to a hospital after she said that the child was not acting right, and now, the mother of that child is in trouble with the law.

Doctors discovered that the child had a blood alcohol level about three and a half times the legal limit for an adult to drive.

Police said that 26-year-old Jessica Bachmaier, was the only person who provided the baby with something to eat or drink, before taking her to the hospital.

According to the criminal complaint, detectives said she knowingly gave alcohol to her baby in her sippy cup.

At first, the mother blamed other people for giving her daughter the liquor. She said that a male friend was babysitting the child while she was at work.

However, after a month long investigation police determined that Bachmaier was the one who fed the baby a sippy cup full of vodka.

Bachmaier claimed that she gave her baby what she thought was a mixture of water and formula, but it turned out to be vodka.

When investigators had enough evidence against the mother they filed charges.

Bachmaier was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and providing alcohol to a minor. The baby was also removed from her custody.

The fitness instructor paid £4,000 ($6,800) for breast implants. However, the doctor accidentally made it way too big and it exploded.

51-year-old Kim Brockhurst of South Wales, wanted to increase her cup size from 32AA to 32B for some added “bounce in her step,” but to her horror, the doctor gave her size DD.

The implant exploded and the silicone began leaking into her body. She needed reconstructive surgery and is now a D cup.
